CO2 Emissions Estimator
Calculate estimated CO2-equivalent (CO2e) emissions for freight shipments across different transport modes, utilizing baseline Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) factors.
Methodology & Limitations
This tool uses highly generalized, industry-average emission factors based loosely on GLEC and EPA SmartWay averages. It is for rough estimation only.
- Air: Assumes long-haul belly cargo. Short-haul dedicated freighter emissions are significantly higher.
- Road: Assumes Class 8 heavy-duty diesel truck, average load factor.
- Ocean: Assumes transoceanic container ship.
For actual ESG Scope 3 reporting, shippers must use carrier-specific primary data, accounting for exact vessel/vehicle efficiency, fuel type (e.g., SAF or Bio-LNG), and deadhead miles.
